Re: Touch plate issues?
I first starting using the touch plate over a year ago. The touch plate is a great invention but unfortunately fails miserably when using it with the virtual zero (V0) option. I've spoken with NWA tech support several times and so far they can't provide a solution. For example, I've run V0 where I m...

Replacement Interlocking Table
I just purchased a used demo interlocking table top for $250 + another $49 shipping to replace the blue top on my Shark Pro Plus HD 2.0. New tops were selling for $350. Even though my top was used (certified pre-owned), it's in near perfect condition and only had a real small barely noticeable dent ...

Plexi-Glass Engraving
A customer wants me to engrave a plexi-glass sign so they can illuminate it with LED lighting. I saw a YouTube video where someone was using an unspecified engraving bit and they had their carve depth set to 0.06" I need to know recommended router bit types, RPM, and feed rates so I don't melt or ch...

Re: XYZ Axis Starting Point
Thanks Buc, that seals it!
I modified my steps in my previous post and added a step for checking the Rapid Z Gaps.
I've had my HD Pro Plus for about 10 months now and am still learning new tricks. Thanks everyone for piping in...

Re: XYZ Axis Starting Point
4DThinker I think you nailed it, that's the perfect solution!!! Here would be the steps: 1. In V-Carve, set the Start Depth to let's say, 0.050" 2. In "Material Setup" set "Rapid Z" Clearance & Plunge to 0.1" 3. Set your X0Y0 axis point to the center of the board 4. Move the XY axis to the carving p...

XYZ Axis Starting Point
Every time I load a new G code, I zero out the XYZ axis (I normally use the center point instead of a corner). Whenever I select "Run", the router bit always drops down to the Z-zero axis point and then lifts up and moves to a new location and begins carving at some other point on the wood. This is ...

Re: Router Tearout
So I bought some contact paper from Home Depot; brand: Con-Tact "http://www.simsupply.com/p-25794-solid-white-contact-paper.aspx" The contact paper kind of works, it definately helped prevent less tearout than before. The carvings I do are too intricate to be able to apply paint after the initial ca...

Re: Router Tearout
Thanks BC. I've tried using blue painters masking tape but that too left way too many burrs. I will give the contact paper a try. Any recommendations on the brand name or the texture or type of contact paper? Normally I don't use paint because of this very reason and normal wood stain doesn't cause ...

Router Tearout
Does anybody have any recommendations on how to prevent router tearout during carving? I've tried brand new bits and slowing down or speeding up feed rates and even changing router speeds but on certain materials I can't get clean router cuts. In the attached picture, I used fine steel wool to clean...

Re: G-Code Tears Thru Project and into Table
I'm using a new Panasonic Toughbook laptop which is ruggedized to handle extreme environments; the laptop has no internal fan mechanisms and uses advanced technology to run extended periods without the worry of overheating, etc. So in a dusty environment, I'm using one of the most optimal computers ...
