Re: Rounding Continued - this is one buggy Azz program
The key thing to remember is that on rounded stock Z0 is the center of the cylinder, and this is also considered the bottom of the 'unwrapped' model. So Z0 is the bottom of the material, rather than the top as in normal CNC. Z0 will be the center of the tailstock taper. Radius of the tailstock taper...

Re: Rounding Continued - this is one buggy Azz program
Mine seems to work fine. I did two jobs of about 4 hrs each and there is very little variation from end to end in the z-axis. I tap off on the chuck housing (chuck radius set to 1.75), then the tail stock housing with radius set to .625. Attached pic of Future pencil cups show results. The other cri...

Re: Rounding stock - first hurdle
Also, I think the morse taper will fir in the threaded headstock without a chuck. If so, this would give more length

Re: Rounding stock - first hurdle
Nick, I zeroed the headstock off the highest point of the chuck housing (not the jaws).I then measured the housing diameter (3.5 inches, I think) and entered the radius (1.875) in the 4-Axis section of preferences. This tells the machine that the z zero is 1.875 inches below the tap off point(top of...

Re: 4th axis installed
Nick, It sounds as if your tailstock is grounded to the control box. If that's the case, it should zero the same as the headstock. Another benefit from zeroing correctly would be the virtual zero effect, especially beneficial if you over-tighten the tailstock and it jacks out of kilter, or if the ta...

4th axis installed
4th axis received today. Setup was a snap, but I had read and re-read the instructions numerous times. My biggest issue once again was registration of the product. It required that I enter the Serial Number of my software, even though the software was registered. I had the registration key for the s...

Thank you all for the enthusiasm for the 4th axis attachment to the Sharks. We are shipping the kits this week and have the 2.1 manual upgraded to include the 4th axis.

Collection point refers to the four corners and X0,Y0 where the router travels to measure the Z. Click 'Yes'
on the ,'yes, No, Cancel' panel and things work about the same as 2.0.

Re: virtual zero
Finally got mine working today after numerous calls to tech support, eventually working with Joseph, the programmer.
It works well, except I have to reload the tap file after each cut. (Cut the same job 4 times, loaded the software
and ran VZ 4 times. Was not necessary with the original 2.0
