carved Firewood box
This a fun rough project i do for local fund raisers... 19 " deep x 32 wide Fire wood box. (you know the mess you have when you haul in firewood all the time. This one just needs wheels to finish it out. The carved section is 24 x 19", so fit nicely in the Shark. I carved the top handle board separa...

Re: Your Shark as a Business
I am a painter, gallery owner, and wood carver. I got a shark a little over a year ago. It is already hands down the most profitable component of my business. I have added signs, cribbage boards, carved wine racks and much more to my offerings. I was also surprised to find out that i can actually se...

Re: New Sign for my wood working shop
Here is the finished sign. temporarily installed in a snow berm outside our Gallery. It happens to be where they restart the Iditarod dog sled race, so I put up a team of snow carved Husky's.

Re: What's the Next Feature You Would Like?
New to my Shark, but yes limits would be great in all three axis. Better dust removal. Fantasy of a rolling feed device that would automatically drive long pieces in to the Shark. Cutting rate speeds beyond 200 i/s for materials like foam. A restart feature. occasionally I have stop a carving run fo...

Re: New Sign for my wood working shop
The Sign center is 24 inches in diameter. Not sure how I will mount it. I am taking it to several trade shows, so it might go on a post along with some samples of other works. Ultimately it will go on the front wall of my carving shop at the gallery in Willow.

Re: Best Router Model to Use?
I have The Dewalt 618. I run it every day up to 8 hour shots, since November. I am no machinist so really could not comment on it's quality, it just runs and I have had no problems. I would be interested in the noise level of other units, but can't really comment on how long this unit might hold up.

Re: Painting colors and finishes for projects
I use acrylics, than use a varathane that is rated outdoor and is UV rated. I also put a light coat of Urethane on the finished wood piece prior to painting. If you don't than depending on the wood you use , it will be a bit like painting on a sponge. The paint will migrate in the wood. That makes i...
