Re: Shark Dust Boot

I ended up making my own dust boot. If you do something like this, you can control the length of the bristles and make them shorter than usual so they won't hit your workpiece when you carve a bowl.

Here's the one I did: http://perryprojects.blogspot.com/2017/ ... -boot.html

Re: Turn on Spindle without a toolpath

Could you create a g-code file that just turns on the spindle without otherwise moving it, then send that? I don't have a spindle, but I would expect it to work. If the Shark controller insists on turning off the spindle after completing the g-code run, just include a long delay in the file.

Re: Making first sign - Vbit settings

For a V-bit, 1/8" is a fine starting point. You can go more or less aggressive as you fine tune things.

My rule of thumb for end mills on wood is 1/2 the end mill diameter. Again, you'll fine tune that for your situation, but that's my go-to value.

Re: Adding Home limit switches

The software doesn't support limit switches, so you'll need to roll your own custom solution if you want to get around that. That's what I ended up doing for making my own touch plate. I created a USB dongle that appears to the computer as a keyboard. When you hold the button, it steadily moves the ...

Re: Shark Pro HD & Fusion 360

The post processor for Vectric's software presents the g-code commands that the Shark expects to see. I'm not familiar with what's in Fusion 360's generic 3-axis processor. It might work. To ensure full compatibility, you could always modify the generic processor based on what's in the Shark post-pr...

Re: Troubleshooting - CNC Shark CP v2.1 Connected USB

Hey, Rod. The post processor would be my first guess if you've updated it since you last used it. Otherwise, I'm wondering if you maybe exported the job from VCarve/Aspire incorrectly. Try running the simulation on that toolpath in VCarve first and see if it does what you want. Then try exporting it...

Re: When pocket cutting walls are tearing out

VCarve has an option to do a final finishing pass on the full depth of the cut. It does this to remove the appearance of "layers" that form over the various passes. I've not had success with this feature. If you have it enabled, it could be what's causing the breakage at the end, assuming that's whe...

That's a beautiful design. Sorry to hear about the problems you've been having.

From what you're saying, wider walls and slower feed rate?

Re: Control panel wont connect to controller

As stupid as it sounds, try swapping out the USB cable for a very reliable one. A number of users have reported similar problems with that solution.
