Re: text on text sign

Nice work!

Which names did you do first? Is this an inlay or painted?

An inquiring mind wants to know! :)

Re: setting X0 and Y0

I like the above method and had not thought of it before. '

What I usually do is chuck up a v bit finger tight and set the X and Y coordinates where i want them, usually bottom left corner and then switch out to the end mill and set Z using the touch plate.

Re: What should I use???

Wear a dust mask with the cedar and/or run dust collection. the really fine dust can potentially screw up your lungs really good.

Re: What should I use???

WHat design software are you runing? I am using vectric vcarve pro 7.5 . using a 1/4" 60 deg v bit for engraving lettering etc, 1/8" end mill for small flat areas and 1/4" end mill for larger ones. Check out Vectric's tutorials, theres alot of good info there even if you dont use thier product it ma...

Re: Touch plate with small bits?

And the results are in! Once I knocked the corners off the hex handle of the gauging drill so it would chuck into the bosch colt router's chuck, I ran the touch plate app and it worked flawlessly. the 1" length bit didn't even flex in the slightest. just for kicks i put a caliper on the bit as well ...

Re: Touch plate with small bits?

I have some small orifice gauging bits down to about #68 or so what ever that measures out to, that i would be willing to subject to sacrifice to see if it can withstand the touchplate if you would like me to try it.

just let me know.

Re: New Piraña

I run vcarve pro 7.5 with on my pirahna no problems. When saving the file to yur thumb drive you need to use the cnc shark post processor so the piranha's controller can read it. I also like to save the .tap file to my desktop ( or a specific folder on the computer) and then put it on the thumb driv...

Re: Having an issue with a plaque on Piranha

I was recently putzing aound with some clip art on my piranha engraving into some scrap and while it ran fine most of the way it suddenly moved toward "0" in the Y axis doing something similar to what you have here in two separate attempts. each time it malfunctioned it was in a different location. ...

Re: Piranha Fx

From what I can see this is going to be a all new stand alone machine? Maybe there will be an option for a modular upgrade for existing piranha's? I have long drooled over the idea of a epilog laser, but cost versus need versus it just being a hobby prohibited the purchase of one. An upgrade just mi...
