Chattering problem during cut
I have an HD-4 with a VFD spindle motor (1.5HP) and I have used it quite a bit with pretty good results. However, I am getting a 'chattering' during cuts sometimes, doesn't always do it. Cutting an elliptical recess in a piece of maple and using an offset conventional cut pattern with a 1/4-in em an...

Re: Piranha Dust Boot?
I asked customer service if the dust boot would fit the Piranha; they said that the one currently advertised wouldn't fit, but that Rockler had some. I looked in the Rockler on-line catalog and the one they have looks like the same on on the NWA site. If you buy one, I would sure be curios if it fit...

Re: Laser Attachment??
Woodcraft supply, (also a registered dealer and has the Shark machines) lists the laser as a separate attachment for the Piranha for $799. (Item #161352 Next Wave Automation). They also list the 3-d printer attachment for $899. This is Woodcraft Supply's web site; I talked to the local dealer and th...

CNC Machines in General
I am new to CNC, but have spent a long time woodworking and 'messing' with computers and machines. I am looking at the Shark Piranha as an entry machine with hopes of maybe being able to put it to use as a business. For starters, It looks like a lot of fun to learn and 'play' with, but at this point...

Re: Shark Piranha vs Piranha FX
Porter Cable 7310, apparently includes the 7301 router and when you add the base, it becomes the 7310....?? But, yes, that is the one I have...
I would probably try it and not buy another router unless it turns out not OK..

Re: Shark Piranha vs Piranha FX
You don't think the Porter Cable would work? I guess I could measure the R/O on it.. Wouldn't cost me anything for that matter to try it..Well, I would be out the $35 for the mount, but....

Shark Piranha vs Piranha FX
I am thinking of getting the Shark Piranha, not the FX -- just the 'plain' one. I know the FX includes the Laser and the 3D printer heads; my question is: Are the Laser and/or the 3D heads available to 'add-on' to the plain Piranha? Second, is the Bosch router worth paying $120 for? I have a Porter ...
