Re: Selling our HD3 - Need input on Axiom vs Camaster Stinge

We just ordered the Camaster Stinger 3 with a few options. After talking to them about the machine, it literally met almost all of our requirements. The Stinger gets pretty pricey, pretty quick, but we managed to fit a custom machine into our budget. (barely) Anyway... I put our CNC Shark HD3 with E...

Re: Selling our HD3 - Need input on Axiom vs Camaster Stinge

I do have another question about router vs spindle...

Are the spindles more accurate than the routers?
I have a Dewalt 618 router and it has been a great machine for the CNC.
I know people love the spindles, but are they really that much better for cutting wood and plastics?

Thanks for the input, Steve!
The info you provided was very good.
Unfortunately, you just made it harder to decide!

Selling our HD3 - Need input on Axiom vs Camaster Stinger

Hello All, We are selling our CNC Shark HD3 Extended Bed, and are looking at two other company's products. Axiom Pro or Elite and Camaster Stinger 1 or Stinger 2 Do any of you have any experience with these machines, and, do any of you have any thoughts on these machines, even if you do not have any...

Planing toolpath leaves lines each bit pass

Hello All, We have our Shark HD3 back up and running after finding out it had a bad z-axis bearing assembly. (this was the actual cause of the issue in my previous posts about the round sign we were making) We are now planing a 20inch wide by 4feet long board. The wood is a single slab of Douglas Fi...

Re: CNCShark HD3 Randomly digs into wood - HELP!

Today, we have a big update in the progress of this issue. We opened a ticket with Next Wave Automation a few weeks ago, and actually talked to one of their long-timers. He said the issue is likely one of two things, or both: 1: The CNC Shark Dust Boot (yes the one from Rockler at roughly $100.00 af...

Re: CNCShark HD3 Randomly digs into wood - HELP!

Today's update is this, since the last flurry of messages: I used only the circle around the large HEbrew letters to create a single tool path to cut at a slightly deeper debth of 0.22in (previous pocket cut depth was 0.2in). The job is complete, and there are no visible recessed lines, yet. The poc...

Re: CNCShark HD3 Randomly digs into wood - HELP!

Thom, We are not using virtual Z whatsoever. All we have been using is the touch plate at the start of the job, and when changing bits. Your project looks nice, and is much more sophisticated than what I am currently capable of. Has anyone here that uses a CNC Shark with the Shark Control software v...

Re: CNCShark HD3 Randomly digs into wood - HELP!

Sharkcutup, We bought this machine based on what it was advertised to do. If a $5000.00+ machine cannot properly carve a pocket, why on earth would anyone spend one red cent on it, when there are many other options out there that can? We went through forums and dug through pros/cons of buying this ...

Thom, I will break it down and fully answer your questions. It will take me a bit to get the full response, but I will :) Sharkcutup, We bought this machine based on what it was advertised to do.
