X,Y axes switch?
After setting up my machine HD4 w/extended bed, I realized that the X axis is the 'short' side of the extended bed and the Y axis is the 'long' side. This makes it interesting when making a sign that is supposed to be 36" in the X and 12" in the Y. Am I missing something on the vectric software or c...

Re: Cutting Aluminum? --- Anyone???
I joined the 'Aluminum cutting club' today as well.....when I didn't set the X,Y, zero properly from design to machine and went right into one of my clamps!
The bit was still ok though and I am really thankful that the clamp was aluminum and not something that would tear up my new bit!

Clamping for spoilboard
I finally got my system set up and when I ran my first project, the wood shifted when the bit changed direction. I had it clamped with two clamps and tightened it after the first slip. It slipped again.
I am wondering what you all can offer for help with clamping wood to an MDG spoil board.
Thanks

Re: Spindle vs Router?
Three set screws? Your spindle motor rotating parts should look like this: 4-17-2017 9-05-14 PM.jpg You remove the collet nut and collet insert from the rotating part of the spindle. The threads specified on the Musclechuck must match those on the end, as shown in the picture. All you do is put the...

Re: Spindle vs Router?
Thom, Can I ask for some help? I am new to the cnc and have recently set up my Shark HD4. I purchased the musclechuck and collet set for my spindle because I needed a 1/2" collet. I am curious to know how the musclechuck is mounted to the spindle though. Can you help me out? Thank, MDHunt Sorry...d...

Re: Attaching spoil board question
What size hold down bolts did you use? I purchased some 1 inch 1/4-20 hex head bolts and they wouldn't fit into the slots for the machined aluminum.
Also, do you have any recommendations for the insert sizes?
Thanks,
MD

Re: Spindle vs Router?
I've found upgrading to a spindle motor from a DeWalt D618 to be well worth the price: quieter, more accurate, more torque. The ones I got were these, though at the time they were a combo package: http://www.automationtechnologiesinc.com/products-page/cnc-spindle/2200-milling-spindle http://www.aut...

Re: VCarve help
That's a definite improvement--much easier to read. Have you considered carving the text into the material, rather than carving the material around the text? That would make the text indented rather than standing out, so maybe it's not the look you're going for. If the look isn't crucial, I think i...

The file being loaded was written by the Trial Version of the software on a different computer. To prevent abuse of the trial version, the full version will only load files from the trial version that were written on the same computer. Bummer. Can you try previewing only the v-carve without the oth...
