Re: Spoil Board Material

I may be a little more on the extreme side with my spoil board but I use two pieces of 3/4" MDF glued together and then I mount it to my base. The reason for using two pieces is that it allows me to use countersunk bolts to mount the spoil board to the T slot base and it also allows me to use thread...

Re: Re-inforcement for HD4

Another option would be to install large washers around the mounting bolts that the router Mount bolts to I noticed that when plunging the bolts would start to gouge into the plastic right when the bit makes contact with the material I'm sure this was a big reason for the flexing when plunging into ...

Re: Re-inforcement for HD4

I noticed a similar problem with my machine too. When I upgraded to a spindle I decided to completely remove the router Mount and made a solid aluminum spindle bracket for the Z axis. That made a huge difference in the flexing of the spindle head when plunging into material. Since I'm mainly cut alu...

Re: Spindle options

Ok so I pulled the trigger on the spindle setup I found on Amazon. I did my homework and decided to go with the 2.2kw 220volt water cooled version. Since I already had 220 in my garage that wasn't an issue. Water cooled made more sense because I will be doing fine engraving and didn't want to get an...

Re: pulse air valve

Thanks for the input I ordered the 12 volt air valve and a timing circuit off of ebay and wired it together and BAM! that did the trick. I can set the timing value to anything that I want and the valve works great. Thanks for the input, it really helped out

pulse air valve

This is probably a strange question but I was wondering if there is something out there that will allow my air compressor to make small pulses of air on the material that I am engraving to blow off the dust created while engraving. I am doing some reverse engraving on some material and currently I a...

Re: Cant use the laser with HD4

Okay so I got this figured out you have to first download the piranha post processor file from the website and then you need to load it in the appropriate folder in V carve. The post processor file needs to go into the my post processor file in vcarve and then it will show up in the list after that ...

Cant use the laser with HD4

Anyone have information on how to get the laser to work on the HD4? I have reviewed the setup guide but I am unable to use the laser because it says I need to use the Pirana Laser post processor. In the post processor selection bar there is no option for the Pirana laser post processor. I tried to d...

Re: Spindle options

Thanks for the response sharkcutup. I am well aware of all of the specifics on the different spindles etc. I mainly wanted to know if anyone has used one of these spindles sold on ebay and how well the work. Since the spindles from rockler have no manufacture information on where or who makes them, ...

Spindle options

Has anyone tried or is using an aftermarket spindle like the ones offered on ebay or Amazon? I am looking on upgrading to a spindle and was wondering how the ebay units compare. Mainly on how long the bearings last etc. The spindles offered from rockler seem similar to the ones offered on ebay but f...
