Re: Faster cut time?

So if anyone is interested my solution was to change the type of cut from a pocket to a profile cut and use a larger bit. Reduced my cut time from 1hr & 9min to 31min.

Faster cut time?

Ok so I have a file that is taking me 1hr & 9mins to cut. It's a combination of pockets and profile cuts. How can I improve my cut time? Material: .25" MDF Passes: pockets = 1, profiles = 2 Bit size: .125" Feed rate: 165ipm @ 17k-ish (router setting is almost to 3) If I left anything out let me know...

Y axis direction of cut

When cutting pockets the x axis cuts long ways but the Y axis cuts back and forth all the way from front to back. Is there a way to have both the X and the Y axis cut long ways? That would cut down on cut times significantly. Thanks in advance.

Re: Straight cuts nit straight

Thanks Rando I will try that. And just to clarify, the .25" x 2" I was referring to is the height and width. The depth is only .25".

Re: Straight cuts nit straight

The material is poplar and yes it's gcode is set to make a straight cut at .25" x 2" for each cut.

Straight cuts nit straight

Anyone have any idea why these are not coming out straight? could it be the feed rate or depth of cut? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: cutting steel

i figured that would be the case just thought I'd ask to get confirmation. I've made a few knives and was hoping to speed up the precess but i guess I'll stick to making them by hand. Thanks for your input guys.

Re: Very disappointed!

Angel, Here's another thought about that plunge... Once upon a time when I paused the machine during a cut, then readjusted the Z by only .005, Then resumed the cut, the bit plunged straight down through the board and table. I have not tried this maneuver again. It might never happen again with any...
