Re: Source for a live center?

Being an old woodturner, seeing a dead center in the tailstock is questionable. I researched all over the internet and found several. Amazon has several. The issue is that the ones I found did not match the height of the tailstock supplied. If you can overcome that issue, there is some chance of suc...

4th Axis and Spoilboard leaving 4th axis in place

I have a new 4th Axis on a Shark HD520. My goal is to have the 4th axis on the machine even when doing normal flat work. My current spoilboard occupies the entire cutting area of the 520. The spoilboard uses T-Nut 1/4-20 in a 2-inch grid as anchors for the work. I have been very happy with the versa...

Re: HD5 and mini 4th axis

Check with Vectric for features supported by VCarve Desktop. You can still do rotary, but gadgets are not supported in VCarve Desktop (only Pro and Aspire).

Re: Can I run Linux?

Been a linux fan for the last 25 years, both at work and at home. Sadly, Vectric software works only on Windows. You might consider VMWare and add Windows as a virtual machine. The solution is similar for Mac users.

Re: Combining Run Files From Within Shark?

When you create two toolpaths in VCarve Pro and get to the "save toolpath" option, you have the option to create two separate files. If the two toolpaths use the same tool, the SAVE process has an option to put both into the same file. I found this handy when running laser toolpaths. In that case, y...

Re: Spindle Auto Start?

I purchased my HD520 back in June 2021. The 2hp spindle was part of the deal. The controller has a place to plug in the spindle. Now, when the desired toolpath is started, the spindle will start after a delay for spinning up the tool to the speed defined in the toolbase.

Re: Spindle vs Router

The Shark HD500 series is the top of the line. The machines are more substantial. This means that there is less deflection during cuts. I had a Shark Pro Plus for many years. During that time, I updated to the HD4 controller and pendant, adding $500 to the cost. My best advice is to buy the best mac...

Kyle Ely's "Learn Your CNC" course takes you through everything from the beginning through advanced 3d modeling. He offers a weekly online live session on Thursdays at 7PM Eastern. The classes are not free. I forget what the current price is. But whatever it is, I would buy it again. You get to view...

Re: Spindle Motor Questions from a Nube

I received my spindle yesterday. It has a special cable that connects to the controller. So, it must be available now. Check with support to see if there is an upgrade available.
