Re: CUT2D AND CNC SHARK COMPATIBILITY
I ran the crv file through my workflow and it cut with no problems. If your machine is from the BobCad era, are you running Mach3 direct into the Shark with a parallel cable? The only adjustment I made was to slow down the ipm to 60 rather than the 100 it was intending to use. 100 ipm with a .250 cu...

Re: Shark stepping size
I replaced my leadscrews with larger diameter units with 5 turns per inch. Yours are probably 4 turns per inch, so the numbers will be different. I believe you would use the formula of (motor steps per revolution x leadscrew revolutions per inch) and the would give you the "steps" that you would ent...

Re: Newbie intro and questions - dust box
If you use the dust shoe, the source of the dust is only inches from the vacuum hose. so no problems. The brush on the dust shoe keeps the flying chips under control very well. If you dont use a dust shoe, I suggest you consider "the wall" to keep the flying chips on the table where you can vacuum t...

Re: Newbie intro and questions - dust box
I forgot to post the picture showing the wall and dust shoe. Here is my shark in its cabinet. The computer running mach3 on upper right. Keyboard and monitor hinge out of the way when not in use. You can also see the slot in the dust shoe for viewing the tool. The clear Lexan front wall is not shown...

Re: Newbie intro and questions - dust box
These are both super looking enclosures. Great job on both. My cabinet is very similar and I have played with several methods of enclosure/dust collection with the goal of keeping the dust contained and keeping the lead screws and bearings clean. The "shop vac hose near the tool" worked better than ...

Re: small timing belt gears
I used a Megatool "chip saver" bit for this as I have some of them here already. I believe that Precisebits has a 1/8 shank .0625 deep reach fishtale end mill bit that has a .5 depth, I have some on order to try but they have not arrived yet. I don't usually go below standard 1/8" dia, but I have Me...

small timing belt gears
I'm in the process of building a 3d printer (Reprap) that uses small T5 drive belts to move the axes. The laser cut wood gears in the kit did not fit well and the Shark was called into play to cut some new ones. This size is not available commercially, (as 10 tooth is the smallest common pinion for ...

Re: Updated Shark Control panel
Joe. You are a very frequent poster here, and offer as much help as you can at a moments notice. About 4 times as many posts as NWA and Rockler if I am not mistaken. So IMHO your sincerity can not, and should not, be questioned. I am happy that you have had good results from the machine and the manu...

Re: Shark stepping size
Hello Gleep I have my Xylotex board set to eighth steps and the motors run very smoothly. I am using Mach 3 however. Ynd you are correct in that the number of steps per inch changes. I needed to change my setup file in Mach 3 when I did this. I would conjecture that this may be set in the firmware o...

Re: Updated Shark Control panel
I don't think I have ever seen any posts by the moaners and pictures of projects made using Mach3 Thats probably because we don't identify the fact that we use Mach 3 when we post projects.. Older sharks came with Mach3 before the NC Pod was adopted. So any of the older machines and longer term use...
