Re: Carving Not in Proportion
Thanks to NWA for their great support. After talking with somebody I was able to troubleshoot a number of issues and I finally have my Shark working perfectly. Thanks again guys - it's a great product with knowledge and support to back it up!

Re: Carving Not in Proportion
Tim,
I am using an old Xylotex board with a new ncPod USB board that I re-built into a new enclosure. I am using the latest Control Panel software recently downloaded from the New Wave website. I am not using Mach3 at all.
Thanks for your help!

Re: Carving Not in Proportion
I belive the unit is a Shark and is about 5 years old. I bought it used so I am not exactly sure. I get a total travel as follows: X: 16.5 Y: 23.75 Let me know if that helps diagnose the problem. If it was a physical (binding) issue I figure it would not carve so consistently dis-proportianate. Carv...

Re: Possible CNC Purchase
I am a newcomer to CNC and this forum. I purchased a used Shark that was not working and it has been a long journey for me. If you buy new I think you will be in much better shape than me. It all depends on how quickly you want results and how patient you are. CNC involves an understanding of softwa...

Carving Not in Proportion
My carvings are coming out with the X/Y proportion distorted. I calculate that the X-axis is about 80% of the Y-axis. The attached photo shows a design that is supposed to be a circle but ends up being oval. I suspect that the stepper control jumpers on the Xylotex board may be set incorrectly. Does...

Re: All Axes Reversed
Nevermind, I solved my own problem. Turns out that only the Z motor was reversed. I flipped the ZA and ZA# wires on the Xylotex board. Just carved my first piece today and it came out great!

All Axes Reversed
I just finished re-building my control board with the new ncPod USB interface. Everything appears to work and I am able to jog all axes with the Control Panel. Unfortunately it appears that all axes are jogging in the wrong direction. A few test runs confirm my suspicion. Do I need to swap wires on ...

Parallel Port Upgrade
I just purchased an older used Shark machine that has the old parallel port controller. I am more interested in wood carving than electronic engineering so I was wondering if there is a way to purchase the new USB controller separately? I am really trying to get away from Mach3 which is just way too...
