Re: Coloring Text

Want to let you guys know that I found a 12" roll of contact paper, 10' long for $3. Here is a desk sign that I have done. I texture around the letters and leave a border around the edge. Might be an idea you can use.

Re: Coloring Text

I have tried doing the same thing with that blue masking tape. Contact paper would work better because the tape doesn't always cut very well. Thank for the suggestion

Coloring Text

This has to be so easy that I am overlooking something.

I have tried carving the text with a v-bit, then spray painting to color the text. When I sand off the top, it also removes detail from the text and gums up the sand paper. How do you guys color text?

Re: Losing axis during project

I had some more problems with it after moving everything out of the cabinet but it seems to be working fine now that I updated all the software from Shark and Vectric. No more problems so far

Re: Dust collection shield designed and built.

Instead of brushes or the rubber strips; I wonder what would happen if you just used a wide attachment that came with the vacuume. It would not obstruct your view of the bit like the others. Being hard plastic, it wouldn't suck up. Do you think there is a way to ground it to discharge any static ele...

Carving Text

Someone out there must have experience carving text. Some of the text is .2-.25". I have been trying to us my 60 degree v-bit but it knocks out the center. of letters. Looked for a 30 degree bit, but have not had luck finding one.

What do you guys use and where do you get it?

Re: Dust collection shield designed and built.

I was having some problems with the xyz axis moving on me. The first thing NWA asked was if I had a dust collector set up to it. Evidently, they have had problems in the past with dust collectors generating static electricity. Has that been a problem?

Re: Professional Use

I will do that. What kind of wood do you use? The piece on your website looks yellow but not much grain. Is it maple? Your work looks really good
