Re: Question about making a deeper cut

If you just want a little more depth, you can reset the Z by 0.005" or 0.010" deeper and re-run the program. But everything will be deeper and hence wider, by the amount you reset.

Re: shark pro router clamp

Here are a few thoughts on the factory router clamp. If yours is cracked, it needs replacing obviously, but if it is not, there is an easy way to keep it in good repair, and that is the proper technique for loosening/tightening the clamp. You SHOULD NOT be simply loosening or tightening the front bo...

Re: post processors difference?

If you are writing G-Code for the Shark, none of those are recommended, they may or may not work, but even if they work, you are likely to get surprises. I have an older Shark Pro with the Bosch Colt router. I use CNC Shark (inch). There are Jow a couple of other choices, which you should use depend...

Re: Altering X and Y orientation

Maybe I am being obtuse, but why would you not simply orient your drawing differently in VCarve? Any of the Sharks can handle 12" wide, and the 50" direction can run front to back rather than side to side. The machine cares not which way the project 'looks'. The only trick to doing long signs is ind...

Re: Computer

I used to run mine off an XP installed netbook! I highly recommend laptops as opposed to desktops for shop environments. Dust is less an issue than you think, just gently blow out the desktop box every so often and things will be fine, but laptops are better sealed, and easier to blow out without ne...

Re: Bird Houses

That is the real fun about CNCs! Even companies buy them for a specific task, then discover all the neat things they can do!

Nice designs! Yours or someone else's?

Re: Ready to Buy - some user feedback requested

Scott, Hard to accurately have this sort of discussion in this venue. Too many questions to ask on both sides of the conversation. I have been programming and operating CNC systems for nearly 20 years, and spent much of that time training operators. I have had a Shark for about four years and have m...
