Re: Bosch router
I run mine at full all the time. Have not changed brushes in four years. The speed control is actually the weak link. It is in all variable speed tools.
The best way to keep it running is to keep it clean. Be sure and vacuum/blow it out between runs.

Nice! Did you do the programming from scratch or use the files I wrote for WWJ?

I was just about to suggest that.
Better to figure it out yourself, you will remember it better next time.

Re: XP Upgrade
I can't speak to Win 8, but Win 7 has been VERY reliable for me both in general and with VCarve and the Shark Control board. I do have a little experience with Win 8. I can tell you it sucks on a non-touch screen system. Both my daughters have it on their standard laptops. We bought my wife a new la...

Re: 1/16" endmill
I'd run a 1/16 the inch bit at about 30 ipm and a cutting depth of about .040" I generally recommend a cut depth of a little less than the diameter of the bit. Milo, lowering the FPM is great for correcting a problem during a run, but once you decide that running the bit at 30% of the feed rate in t...

Re: Inlay Basics
I made the inlay here a while back using the Shark Pro. http://i1065.photobucket.com/albums/u391/handi45/7d40ca7c20934e758a3b774f7d646bd2_zps9ba31d4a.jpg This one is 1/32" thick veneer inlayed into 1/4" material as the lid for a small presentation box. It is a map of the islands of Venice. I have be...

Re: Tool Definition
If it is a 45 degree chamfer bit that comes to a point, the tool list is already set up for it as a 90 degree 'Vee' bit. You can add a new bit, choose 'Vee' and enter the proper sizes. If not, you can draw your own profile and enter that. I created a video showing the process, you can find it on the...

Re: Limits
My Shark Pro has about 24" of travel, but when accounting for the head and such, I built my spoil board 22" square so I always know I'm within bounds.
Sounds to me like you are just meeting the limit.
