Hello All
I have a question regarding the touch probe. With the project I'm working on I would like to implant the horse head model into this work piece. My question is; could I use the touch probe to generate tool paths in VCP7? I do have Cut3D which Is what I used to machine the model. Thanks in advance, any ideas would be appreciated.

Re: Touch Probe Question
Hi Don,
You certainly can scan the horse head model using the touch probe. That process generates an STL file. You can open that STL file in Cut3D, just as you did for the horse model, then bring that output into your VCarve project.

You may find this post on the touch probe useful as well - http://www.cncsharktalk.com/viewtopic.p ... ouch#p6834
For those that have Aspire - some additional steps you might find useful after the scan - http://www.cncsharktalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=1176

Re: Touch Probe Question
Hi Joe
Thank you for the information it was very helpful. I have been able to get that stl model into VCP7 in the original size that I used it in Cut3D. So I'm thinking I won't even have to buy the touch probe. So you are the man, thanks again

Re: Touch Probe Question
Hi Again
Question answered, no touch probe required to attain these tool paths. Once I got the STL file into VCP7 it was smooth sailing, and I was able to generate the profile, and pocketing tool paths required. Since I was ready to change my spoil board, I thought I'd do my tests on it as shown in the picture. You have to love us newbies, thanks again for the help.
Don
PS I still think I need the touch probe, but for now that 300 bucks will stay put
