after setting datum point in material set up to be the center of a 8x8 peace of material, and then when I set the control panel to x 4" and Y 4" the router should go to the center of the material, should it not.?? When I tried it, it tried too go to the edge of the material and hit the lead screw nut.

If the center is in the middle, that's like the 0,0 of good-old cartesian graphs. X+4 Y+4 is the upper-left corner, 4.566" from the 0,0 center/origin point. The lower-left corner would then be at X-4 Y-4.

Make sense?
