Football Snack Tray

Post by Consultingwoodworker »

Another project I created for Woodworker's Journal, a football shaped snack tray, just in time for the Super Bowl!

Like the previous videos in this series, the .tap files are available for free.

Thank you, Ralph. Really terrific workmanship, as always!

I assume that the inlays were cut and glued into the main board before cutting. Is the gain on the inlay running with or against the gain of the main board? Does it matter?

One final question. How was the z-zero determined after changing bits? The ref point is in the middle of the stock and the bowl cutout doesn't leave material to locate the changed bit. Maybe the lip of the bowl still allows room for the reference plate?

Happy Holidays,
Ed

Hi Ralph. I really like those auto-lock clamps. I've never seen them before your posting. I checked the spec and they appear to have a face height of just over 3/4". I can really cut down on a lot of waste. Looks like it's time to order a set of 4. Thank you for sharing your design and expertise.
Best,
Ed
