Questions for Bosch 1617 Users

Post by wsteffan »

I have a Bosch 1617EVS I use on my 60th Shark.

I have used the factory collet and the Muscle Chuck 1/2 inch with the 1/4 reducer.

I am wondering what others are using for their smaller size bits.
The muscle chuck works good with 1/2 inch shanks and pretty good on 1/4 inch shanks.
However with a reducer into a reducer for 1/8 inch bits and smaller I tend to get slippage.

Just wondering If there is a quick change chuck that I have not seen yet that others are using.

I use the amana tools 1/4 to 1/8 reducer.

Thanks for your input.

Wayne

I have the Bosch 1617 and I use the collet kit made for Bosch routers by precise bits. I have 1/8, 1/4, and 1/2 collets. Works great and never had a problem with any of them. I started using the kit the same time I got the router so I don't have any experience using the stock collet.

There is a video on youtube showing the Precisebits collets and comparing the total runout from the stock collet to them. Pretty impressive. (I've ordered the kit too)

The video name is: ER20 Collet for Bosch EVS1617 CNC router, and the link is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qLWxyy5XKJw

Enjoy the precision :)

I've been using the precise bits collets for years. They are really great. You won't be disappointed.
