diamond drag
Does anyone do diamond drag engraveing on brass? If their is, where do you get the brass? Also can we etch glass with a shark? thanks
Re: diamond drag
gpeck:
I get my brass from either Online Metals (okay), or Metals Supermarket (awesome). I'm in the Seattle, WA, USA area, so don't know if that helps. There's no reason the diamond engraving bit won't work in brass, it's not like it's going to melt the material. I've heard good things about the spring-loaded ones that self-adjust the depth based on the set pressure.
Hope that helps,
Thom

Re: diamond drag
They will also etch glass. Had a lady wanting me to etch text on melted bottles. They were relatively flat, and the spring loaded drag knife worked well. Really not my favorite use of my diamond drag bit, but it works.
Being retired is hard work. Spending way too much time in the shop these days. (And loving it).
