FILES FOR 3D/2.5 CARVE

Post by TAW »

Question here. I have the sample pak of 3d carve files to use with v carve pro- I do not have 3-D carve software- I can not do modeling.
I have some one that did a 3d model of a simple lathe turning that I had cut in half and want to carve this in 3d. he has sent me a file with ext .stl.
will my software- processor be able to open and get g code from this?
I was trying to get a 3 d scan service he offered for free and he does not do it now but offered to model it in his software. sent mea jpg of it from different views . looks great. but the file (part1.stl) is listed as a crypto shell extensions.....? not home yet and sent file home to try , but can any wone tell me what the 3d files should be save/opened in to use on the shark?
Thx TAW

If you have v carve pro you can import 3D models into your program. Set up your toolpaths and save the toolpaths, see attachment. Also see http://support.vectric.com/ for tutorials.

probe modeling needed FILES FOR 3D/2.5 CARVE

Post by TAW »

tony thx . I got a 2 x .jpg and a .stl file.
Your are saying I should be able to import just 3d model in jpg or the .stl file?
Attached is what was sent to me.
If these will not work I would like to send the sample part to someone that has the probe and they can model it and I can buy the file from them.

That Model is Huge!!! (63.444 (x-axis) by 152.5405 (y-axis))

Of course it can be re-sized to suit your needs within V-Carve Pro.

Open V-Carve Pro
Set Job size to 65.0 x-axis and 155.0 y-axis
Open modeling tab on lower right, select first icon find .stl file and load
Note here --- you can adjust the model using the various tools that loaded with it. Note that the model loaded with only a quarter of part being shown. If you want it to look like exactly the image you had posted you will need to change the initial orientation to right then click ok at bottom.

Hope this helps!!!

The model was likely originally created in millimetres!

Yes I believe you are correct. Thank you for your insight!!!

After importing it in millimeteres and then changing to inches it is only 2.5 X axis by 6.0 y-axis!!!
