Output direct to Router/Controller?

Post by Jim@HeirloomTable »

I've seen that when you save a .tap file there's an option to check Output direct to machine. I've tried that, and it seems to save a .tap file anyway, then tries to open the Shark program, but that errors out. Is this really possible? Need to do differently?
Seemed like a quick option for routing names on a bunch of boards that are already created.

It's supposed to save the .tap, then load the controller software with a parameter that says, "Use this file I just saved." I've never tried it with the Shark because my controller software is in the garage while VCarve is inside on the PC.

Looks like I tried the right approach - would be nice to have a response from Vectric. I'll just continue with what I've been using, save the tap file to our file server, then from the room with the CNC open and run the file.

Jim,

Did you contact vectric? Did you post it on the vectric forum?

Agreed! That's what I do as well, throw it up on a RAID share so it's safe, and can then be mirrored/backed-up without the CNC-controlling computer being involved at all. Almost makes it seem like the "put it on a thumb drive and stick it in the pendant" seems from about 15 thousand (Internet) years ago. Sneakernet? Seriously? In the age of WiFi?

Cheers!
