Does anyone know if I can scan an object and then create a female mold using just the software? For example, instead of scanning a widget and cutting away the excess, I want to cut away the material within the widget. Thanks!

Woolfie - I am new to everything CNC so I feel fortunate to even understand half the language...

I have a Shark HD, Cut3D, Vcarve Pro 6.5, and think I am using the Shark Control Panel to scan. I think Cut3D is the program you are inquiring about, but not sure.

Help????

Also, I noticed the Z coordinates got stuck in the "0" position in my last scan. Started over. Any reason why?

Unfortunately, the Shark does not work with Mach3.
Next Wave Automation use their own system which is going through the control box into the Shark and your computer screen.
You need to download the driver into your computer and run it from there.
Have you read the Shark Family User Guide?

Hello Touch Probe users, I am new to the use of probe scanning and want to learn how to scan coins and reproduce them in wood about 10" dia.
So far my attempts were medium successful, I would really appreciate your input to these questions-
Q1- Why does a flat surface, when scanned, come out so bumpy? (Full of uneven trapezoidal shapes)
Q2- I use Cut 3D but the surface comes out very pitted, is there another software or method that would smooth the surfaces before it is carved?
Q3-When I buy a file to carve, it carves fast and leaves smooth/clean surface why can't I get the same from Touch Probe file?
Q4- What resolution ( .01 or .005 or .002 or .001) to use for a coin scan?

This is what it looks like after the scan was loaded into Cut 3D

This is how it carved, first the whole carving was done with Roughing Tool Path then 1/2 was done with Finishing TP The next image shows the pitted surface after the Finishing path

It would be nice if the Pittsburgh store would do that.

Actually, there are two videos on this board that show the probe in operation. One showing using the probe, and one showing how to carve off the model.

Ok, sorry, only the first video was posted, the second has not been yet.
