Resume program at any gcode line

Post by jdsmith500 »

Using a Shark HD 3, is it not possible to stop a program at some point, such as when there is a power failure or when it is necessary to hit "e-stop," and then resume where the program stopped? I have tried everything my puny brain can think of, including copying the gcode to notepad, deleting the lines that had already run, saving as a new program, and running it. I don't know why, but this doesn't seem to work. I'm thinking maybe with a little tweaking, I might get this to work. Anybody had any experience along these lines. One post on this forum suggests that the inability to pick up and resume a program at any gcode line is one of the failings of the proprietary Shark post processor.

Hi James,

There is no current behavior in the SCP to stop at a certain line, exit the program, and then come back, load that same tap file, and then start from where you left off. Some might view that as a limitation, some folks who have other software with this capability choose not to use it for other reasons.

Some old posts that may be helpful to you though - but not necessarily something you leap right into as a new user without trying some test cases first -
