Help over my head

Post by Rushman2112 »

I think I am a bit over my head So I got three engraving bits from micro 100 a 90,60,30 and I am trying to use those so i can make ornaments and they are not coming out like I want I am trying to find a easy script \

Cut Angle Split Length (L2) Offset Point 00 Overall Length (L1)

RTC-250-1 RTC-250-2 30° 1/2 .004 2.500

Now I am working with .25 oak and I keep playing with the correct depth of cut from 1/64 and up just not sure what is correct. Every time I put these specs in the tool database I can get them all correct except for the 90 degree cut I can not get it to past 89 degrees and I cant get why even if I create from scratch it wont work.
its that or I just need more leaning time with the thing. But I have christmas coming up and I am racing the clock. and for some reason I cant make the touchplate come up with virtual zero its like its not there I have the touch plate and all but it wont come up and I have the box checked to ask about virtual zero and it was checked before I opened any file i dont know if i need to reload the controller software again or not.

Do not put the 90 degree router bit under the Engraving header in the database use the End Mill header (think about it! - it is does fit the bill) and enter the diameter of the bit (I am assuming it is .004").
You could also create a new Group Header like I did called Specialist and put the odd ball bits there!!!

As far as the touch plate is concerned --- Have you registered it with NWA??? There is a serial number on paperwork that came with the touch plate that needs to be entered under "Help" menu "Register Next Wave Product".

Have a GREAT DAY!!! :D

Be SAFE around those AWESOME machines!!! ;)

okay!

Check the connections to the touch plate. I have had an instance where the connection at the touch plate had come out some thereby making a weak connection causing hit and miss readings.

Yeah I am thinking something is wrong with the touchplate because last night I used a surface bit in the router i set it up as a end mill to only do a 1/16 shave on the surface of cherry and I set it all up and then turned it on and I set up the surface bit under endmill and I did a pocket and it dove in the cherry like it was drilling and the cnc shut down I think I must have blown a fuse I was pissed. I hope I dont have to get more cherry. So I am going to I am going to go over it I hope I did not screw up the machine but I dont think so I think it over loaded. i need to check that out.

Would it be too much trouble for you to post screen shots of your settings for your pocket tool path?

Sorry for the lateness of this I have been running my head off. So then I realised that its going to take forever with a .004 cutting path for the lettering. I have those in 60 30 and 90. The only other set I have is
161278: 1/16" Ball Nose Bit
161279: 1/8" Ball Nose Bit
818081: 1/4" Up cut Spiral Bit
24B71: 90° V Bit
24B81: 60° V Bit

First and foremost --- Merry Christmas to you and yours!!!

Do you know how to post screen shots from V-Carve? In order to better understand your situation it would be helpful for you to post screen shots of the settings used prior to creating a tool path from the V-Carve program.
