I find the message in this post (and the timing of it) rather strange. I've seen no disrespectful posts on this forum in the few months I've been here, although I have seen quite a bit of honest feedback, often followed by a lot of good advice.

Does this mean that this forum will now be censored only to include only "happy" posts?

By no means will Rockler censor this forum for "happy posts". Never have... never will!!!
Behind the scenes the forum has been diligently monitored to prevent "inappropriate material" (aka: porn) and spam (aka: bothersome and possibly harmful posts) for almost a year.
The mission of this forum always has been...and will continue to be the honest exchange of information about the Shark systems. Interested potential customers can expect honest opinions about the Sharks from current users and current users can expect valuable information about specific applications as well as answers to sometimes frustrating questions.
Rockler sponsors this forum to encourage those of you that are interested in the world of CNC and appreciate Shark users that are willing to share constructive advice.
I view the forum as a valuable tool to connect the Shark community.

That's good to hear, Al. No one can argue with the "respectful" part of the guidelines, good manners are always important in a forum. What had me worried was the "encouraging manner", which could be highly subjective.

I agree about the value of this forum, without it there would be very little information available at all about these machines. The fact that so many Shark owners are willing to put in so much time helping each other is amazing to me.

It is my suggestion if a post is edited, or removed that a moderator comment made in its place. I've noticed a few post already edited on content. A member dropping in has difficulty following the flow of the post (i.e. enhancing clip art). If a moderator comment were posted on an edit or deletion it would be clear that certain content was not appropriate and the post adjusted comply with copyright or forum rules.

Hi Bobby,

That's great feedback. For what it's worth, the moderators may not be the ones doing the deletion, or editing of a given post or posts - users currently have the ability to delete their own posts as well.

A good point but an adminstrative edit is what I was specifically addressing. The edit by a member leaves a footnote stating it was edited by the poster. However; a deletion does not give any indication that the member retracted the entire post - though rare a complete deletion happens.
The intent of my comment was in posting (following the rules) and editing, consider the reader. Sort of like someone clipping coupons out of the sports section of the newspaper before the paper was read.

I agree, that would lead to far less wondering if I missed or misunderstood something
within a thread. Being new to this forum, I have read a lot of the posts recently from the early
days of this forum and there seems to be a few holes. For us newbees to cnc anything confusion
is not a good thing!

I also agree, and when a post is removed it would also be nice if the original poster got a private message as to the reason. One (at least) of my posts disappeared recently and I have no idea why, there was certainly no violation of any rules.

The primary purpose of any forum is the sharing of thoughts, ideas, and opinions. When those thoughts, ideas, and opinions are minipulated by a few members the over all value is reduced.
