Y axis problem

Post by zac »

I have had my shark for a few months and everything was going fine.
But My shark has failed.
The problem is the Y axis control.
When attempting to drive Y in jog mode nothing happens ,except, coordinates increment on control panel display.
I powered down control panel and shark power supply, made no difference.
With power off to control box, I changed X and Y connectors at control box. Powered up and I was able to drive Y stepper motor with X control.
With power off again, connectors put back to normal, powered up then ok.
During my first attempt to run a program, Y lost control again.
This time when attempting to jog Y clicking noise coming from X stepper,( each time control is pressed to move Y)
Powered down again, changed connectors (X and Y) .Y stepper can be controlled from X control.
Powered down again, put connectors back but no Y movement.
I have explained the problem the best way possible.
Please help

If you connect the X motor to the Y controller port. Can you turn the X lead screw when the unit is powered?
does the unit run for a while then fail as it warms up? Do you have alot of dust that is in the controller that is not allowing the heat sinks to work correctly?
if you are still having the trouble I would contact where you bought it from for repair of the controller.

The X lead screw will not turn when connected to the Y control connector.
The unit does not even run when " cold"
The inside of the controller box is clean.
I will make contact with Carbatec.
Thanks very much for your help Tim.
