Pocket with Slide in cover

Post by savageshep »

I am looking at cutting a pocket about 2" by 3" and want to fit it with a slide in cover. The slide in cover would slide in on an edge of the project . Is this doable and would one use a key hole bit to do it? I am guessing you cut out the pocket and then go along the edge with a key hole bit to undercut the sides some. Does this sound right? thanks for your help

That sounds reasonable to me. If I was going to do it I'd do it the same way.

you can pocket it then I would suggest telling it what bit you are using and if necessary make the bit in Vcarve.
Then I would probally do a profile the lead in and lead out.
But you can check with the Vectric forums and see what people there say.

If you can create a tool path you can machine it. My choice of tool http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=2119. Start with a practice piece of wood. Then work on perfecting a tool path.

just my opinion, Buc
I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.
