Hi,
I am probing a 3d object in multiple sections. I am stitching them together using a 3d modeler called Blender which is very feature rich and FREE!
Occasionally, the probe will complete some portion of it's path across the object and suddenly the probe will return to the zero position on the Z axis.
The probe will continue along it's X/Y path, but all the Z coordinates after that are 0.
When I re-run the scan (without changing any settings) and it doesn't happen. Yesterday, I did 4 scans and it happened on 2 of them.
Anyone bump into this one?
Andy

Re: intermittent 3d probing failure
Hi Andy,
There apparently is a break in period of the probe. If you've already used it for this period and it is getting 'stuck' in the zero position, I'd contact Rockler for an exchange. I did with the first one I received.

Re: intermittent 3d probing failure
Thanks for your reply Joe.
I looked through the links you sent.
Please explain, what is the probes "period"?

Re: intermittent 3d probing failure
NWA told me 30-60 minutes of continuous use. After that there should be no 'stuck on z0'.

oh, "break in period"
groovey!
