ncpodgcodecompiler.exe has stopped working

Post by adowty »

Hello all,

I've had the Shark pro hd for about a month. I have made several successful probes and am in the process of cutting some important fixtures I need to complete my project. I ran a rough pass the other night and it worked like a charm.
Today I am trying to load my finish tap file and I am getting this error message: ncpodgcodecompiler.exe has stopped working.
...and then a load error.
I tried other tap files which successfully ran before and I get the same message.
I tried re-boots to no avail. I tried re-installing the shark control panel, nothing.
I even remembered a windows update which happened as I was closing down after the rough cut.
I did a system restore to before the update. That didn't help.

Coincidentally, I had a fuse blow when I powered up this morning. it was the 10amp fuse only, not the one inside the box.
I currently have solid blue and yellow lights. Could that be why the gcodecompiler is crashing?

Saturdays are my only days to work with this machine and I want to be up and running. Please help.

A.D.

Quick diagnosis! Did the new card get you back going again?

if it is the card you want to do a sandisk (if possible) that is 1gig.
you can go upto 4 gig but it can be hit and miss on the speed of the card above 1 gig.

I don't brelieve this.
Now I suddenly get the same error.
I was loading 1 .tap file, decided it was the wrong one and then I got that message when I tried to load another one.
This is just not funny.

Yes, it was the card that was fried.
Wonder whether that is going to be a repeated occurrence?

Good news

If it happens to anyone, you do not have to buy a new card, the old one just need to be formatted and it will work again.
Cheers

Hey Guys,

I had run out of fuses and had to wait. I'm up and running now.
I got to the root of what was blowing the fuses, fixed it and no other equipment was damaged.
I would always attempt a re-format with the sd card, but in this case, mine was fried.
I'm curious as to why the system of fuses protects the internal electronics, but not the sd card?

SD cards do fail from time to time.
I could of been close to a failure before this issue.
The SanDisk are one of the more solid SD cards I have used.

This happened to me today just after an auto restart of Windows 7 for a system update.
I searched on the impossible to pronounce "ncpodgcodecompiler" and found this thread.
I am happy to report that the fix described in this forum still works. I was back up in 5 minutes.
I reformatted the 1GB SD card that came with the Shark on my desktop computer and I'm running.
My controller is a model US130208. My Shark is the HD Version 2.0 and is only a couple months old.
This forum and the people who contribute are lifesavers! Thanks.
