Drilling with Straight bits

Post by Jim Krager »

Is it OK to use a straight router bit (3/8", 1/2", 5/8" and 3/4") as a drill? I want to make some Turner's Cubes and thought this would be the best way?

Yes, It's the way I drill any holes in my projects. I use 1/8" 2 fluted end mills.

As long as you have a center cutting bit , no problem. Most carbide tipped router bits are not. Usually solid carbide or Hss bits are.
