I'm a retired newbie that saw a Shark operating at the local Rockler store and fell in love with it. I haven't got one as yet and know very little about them. I have two questions which I hope are not viewed as stupid.
1. If I want to carve a project that is 30" long, can it be done by repositioning the wood during the project?
2. What does a 4th axis allow you to do that can't be done on a 3 axis system?

Re: Question on project size & 4th Axis
Hi there,
1. V Carve 6 has a tiling function which allows that.
2. One of the general 4th axis application is adding rotation to either the workpiece ( "turntable" in horizontal or vertical position) or on larger machine tools to the Z-axis which can tilt left or right within a certain limitation. For the Shark it would most likely be a rotating axis to engrave/shape cylindrical work pieces.
