Got my NWA 4th axis ordered

Post by studio-n »

Hello. Just got off the phone and got my long awaited 4th axis attachment ordered. They say they are working on finishing the manual and packaging
so it will ship sometime this week (hmmm). so now it's the waiting game. I'll let you know how it goes.
FYI cost is in fact $800. I know there will be a lot of discussion on the price. It is high for the hardware, so I'm guessing most of it is for
SW development. Considering I don't have time to do my own development its worth the shot.

Nick,

I'll be watching this thread closely. I really want one, but I don't want to be the first. :) I really want to hear about your experience.

That is a lot for the parts involved.. How much for just the software?

first delay has hit already. website says delayed until the 15th while the chucks come in.
I'm not going to gripe. It's freezing in the garage anyway and I got other orders to get out.

while it may seem a lot for the bundle, what else are you going to do? it's all a proprietary system.
I'm not worried, it's my birthday present to myself, and I'll make it up in the plans I have for it.
Cheers!

I too, will be watching your posts on this upgrade. I want one pretty bad, just don't have the necessary $$ for it. I'm saving for the new aspire software first.

I am trying to justify the price on this. Can any one explain why this is $800. How much are they charging for the software?

the software would be included in the bundle. but I'm sure development time and cost on it is what all the delay was about.
I just hope it isn't buggy.
Anyone tried taking the shark platform and using a more generic mach3 controller on it?

We have been waiting for 3 years. Maybe Next Wave could jump in here and
give us some info(?) I would like to know what we are getting for $800, what
is involved in setting it up, running it and I don't really need another chuck (Nova)
why are we left scratching our heads?

I agree Jim. Maybe they could put the manual online for us to look at and maybe get some questions out of the way BEFORE it becomes a frustrating situation
once they arrive. (kinda like the experience with the new spindle).
