Z axis trouble

About half way through a project ( last time at about 20 min. ) my z axis will start to loose its depth code and just start shaking. X and Y are still working. I will hit the stop button and try it on the jog section and it does the same thing, just shake when you push the button. When I shut the power off and turn it back on (right away) it works just fine. I have only cut about 5 or6 projects since it came back from repairs. Its done this 3 times.
