Training Seminar River Falls, WI

Post by Gary Campbell »

Hi, I'm new to this forum, but not CNC. I'm making this intro post before any announcements come in the future.

Michael Mezalick and I are putting on Vectric Training based CNC Seminars in numerous locations around the country, the next being near the Rockler Store in Minnetonka, MN. Store personnel suggested we post the Seminar info here. I will also be available to answer questions if needed along with contact info that is in my signature or on our website: http://www.cncseminars.com

I do see a number of Shark Owners registered already, thank you for your support and we are looking forward to meeting you!

Thanks for allowing me to post, please relocate this thread if posted in error.

The School District of River City Falls (WI) and Kyle Stapleton are proud to announce that we will be hosting a 3 day CNC Training Seminar, August 11, 12 & 13, 2016 at the Renaissance Academy in the Workshop and Technology Lab.

Our school address is:
River Falls Renaissance Academy
1107 South Wasson Lane
River Falls, WI 54022

The Seminar will provide training on Vectric software titles Cut 2D, VCarve Pro and Aspire combined with instruction on machine operation, material hold down and placement. It is modeled after the very successful Aspire Camps presented by Jim McGrew in recent years, combined with OEM software training plus the added benefit of a full day of user selected software training with "at the machine" demos. We have 2 CNC machines; a 5 by 8 and Desktop that will both be used in the Workshop portion. There will be information that benefits users of machines, both large and small, of any brand. Please download the Class Agenda PDF for a full description.

The Seminar will be presented by instructors Michael Mezalick and Gary Campbell. Both have a wealth of knowledge and a decade of experience with Vectric Products and various brands of CNC machines. This training seminar is designed to both bring new users an increased knowledge and confidence for their CNC journey and provide techniques and methodology that will offer seasoned veterans new tools to increase their success.

The cost for the 3 day seminar is $300. This covers tuition, various handouts, water, soft drinks, coffee, donuts and light snacks. There will be a 1 hour lunch break which should allow you to enjoy one of our fine local restaurants. There are a limited number of seats available that will be assigned on a first come, first served basis. Confirmation will be based on date of actual payment, not register date. Once registered, you will be sent an email with payment options.

Training Seminar River Falls, WI

Post by Gary Campbell »

The list of attendees is starting to build for this Training Seminar.
Attendees are reminded to bring a problematic design file. These can be files
that are generated by Cut 2D, VCarve Pro or Aspire. (including Desktop versions)

If time allows, solutions for Photo VCarve and Cut 3D problems will be
discussed also.

Greetings Folks,
We’ve received several emails about what type of machine we will be focusing on for our seminar..
Our focus is to show how to use the Vectric programs and how to apply them to any machine.
So it doesn’t really matter what colour your machine is...it’s all about getting the item you want to cut to come out correct.

See you there.

The actual design doesn't normally change between machine brands, but toolpath parameters need to be appropriate for material, machine and bit. These items and post processor selection, along with file saving and transfer are covered. There are close to a dozen different brands of machine owners registered, which should allow for some great discussion.

There are 5 things that all CNC operators must know to be successful no matter what emblem is on their machine. The actual command or mfgr given name will vary with the control software, but the machine actions and how they affect the operator are the same. They are: (in generic terms)

Set Machine Coordinates (home, set machine or table coordinates, set to limits)
Place and hold material
Set the X & Y datum (zero) to corner or center of material
Set the Z zero to the top or bottom of material
Load and run the cutting file

These items are covered in depth, along with reasons you may want to choose one option over another. Knowing why and how to accomplish these 5 steps, selecting the best option for the project, and how to match the design criteria are the are the basis for the CNC portions of the classes.
