Current setup is Shark HD Extended with VCarve 8.5. Router is Porter Cable 890.
Seems I read in the specs that the CNC does not control the speed of this router. Is that the case? If so, what sorts of speeds should I be using with 1/4" bits using 1/8" deep passes?
Would I use the same speed for ball tip bits?
What about the V-bits?
Thanks
Dave

Re: Router speed control
Cyberbiker,
My experience is that the manufacturer suggests the max speed of the bit. The larger diameter the cutting surface, the slower the speed. Then there is the materials you are cutting. Most of the time, I go with the manufacturer suggestion. There again, I gave up on the cheap bits. The better bits last way longer than the cheap ones. Dependability and accuracy is worth more than what you may have saved buying the cheap bit.
Sorry, but the answer you seek isn't always black and white.
Good luck.
