Consider a CNC Shark HD Extended with a Porter Cable 890 Router.

Does anyone have a suggestion for an adaptor for the collet so that I can use 1/8" shank end mills?

Thanks

CyberBiker:

There are quite a few available, since toolholding is an industry unto itself. A lot depends on just how precise you're looking to work. If you're just looking for the one to do the 1/8" bit, and precision isn't your thing, then a simple collet-reducing insert like this might work:

There are also a couple vendors of specialized collet replacements so you don't have to do the two-wrench fun, or hold a button. The one I use, MuscleChuck, is at:

Hope that gives you some ideas.

Thom,
Thanks for the information. Muscle Chuck would be of some help on the CNC Shark. Did you have to do anything about the runout of the chuck?

Think and Tinker have precision replacement collects for the Bosch 1617 and the Porter Cable. They have three different levels of precision. They are quite reasonable. They ship quickly and they also carry router but.

Have been using Precise Bits collets and bits since the Shark 1.0... can't speak to other recommendations, but their products are high quality - http://www.precisebits.com/default.htm
