clipart Question

Post by rharris77 »

I recently bought a CNC Shark and have the VCarve Pro. I started to practice on the program and in the tutorials it used the uploaded art from Vectric. When i tried to save the files to see what i practiced would actually be when loaded into the CNC it wouldn't allow me to save. Are they only read files and can not be saved? If I go to, which I have, and order files it asks for "FILE TYPE". What to I pick? The files are V3M, STL and RFL. Thank for your patience and help.

It sounds almost like one of a few things.

if you're trying to save the DESIGN, then it probably thinks you're still running a demo copy/license. Check that it's okay with licenses, close, reboot, you know the drill ;-).

If you're trying to save the TOOLPATHS to GCODE to cut on the machine, then it could be that you haven't selected a/the correct post-processor file.

Either way, it could be that the folder you're trying to save into is write-protected. For example, Vectric might be trying to use a first-use default C:\... location to store your file, but Winturds is refusing to allow it to write onto the C: drive. The security model has been getting tighter over the years. If that's what's happening, just navigate to your own desktop or other folders and you should be golden.

The other thing is that, since you're starting from the tutorial files, are you trying to save into the folders where the tutorials are stored? Those are very likely inside the software install folder, and Windows will definitely scream about trying to write into those folders.

Hopefully one of those things is what's going on...

Regards,

Thom

Okay, I'll put this out there only to help other newbies because this is dumb. If you are not loading the file directly to the machine from the computer don't check the box that says send it directly to the machine. Lol. Thanks for your help Rando

Hahaha! Those dang computers, always doing exactly what we tell them! I HATE it when they do that! Thanks for letting us know, and glad you got it figured out.
