Spiral wedding tray

I have been asked bu my grand daughter to make some 18-20 inch trays similar to these for her wedding. Her choice if design. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
I'm thinking of using a 1/2 dia round nose or 1/4 dia round nose.
I need some guidance about speed and feed on the 1/2 inch. Carving in 3/4 Ply.
