You are correct!
We are forming the Beta Now.
We have added Ed to the beta which will be fantastic for some ideas with Aspire.
We should have the beta ready now.
If you dont already you might want to pick up the lathe at rockler they have it on sale with an extention.

Dont know how long the sale lasts

Is this going to be an Upgrade to turn the Shark into a CNC lath? Or will 4th axes carving be availble?

This is an attachment to the shark. If you have an HD or a Plus it will be a true 4 axis capability for the hardware. It will depend on the software you are using and the mode of cut selected if it will be moving all 4 axis at the same time.

I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.

Tim

I use Aspire. Sent the tool paths via email. They haven't been run yet. These can be generated in V-carve also. Used the tutorial from Aspire, James Booth was running it in V-carve.

Buc,

Thanks I am aware of these. I thought you were generating it in a different software or cad file.
We have our own post processors

Ok, Ladies and Gentlemen...
I am going to purchase the lathe before the sale ends...What other hardware and or controls and tooling is involved. Looking at the Rockler site, the lathe looks very plain (in CNC terms)....
Thanks,
Dash

Hi Dash - What are you interested in making with a rotary axis? The answer to that question will determine what additional items you might want to consider buying.

Hey there Ed!! Good evening all...
After posting, I thought about it and should have explained myself..
Ed, I was looking to carve table legs first off but, as I have found, like many of you, there are MANY possibilities with this fourth axis and another separate machine in itself.
Looking at the advert from Rockler, there are no electronics or tooling; its just a lathe. ( a great one, I might add). How much extra are the servos, electronics and tooling going to cost over the price of the lathe? Its a great deal but I need to budget my tool expenses to plan for the extra expense.
Thanks,
Dash
