Tombstones

Post by hdtheater »

These are some replica tombstones I made from the Haunted Mansion attraction at Disney World.

Made from pink foam.

The foam cuts like butter. I recommend good dust collection with it though. That stuff can get everywhere.

The finish is white primer and watered down black paint. I then covered with a flat clear coat.

Hi Eric,

These are great, thanks for sharing them. Did you glue of the 3 panels before you created the tombstone, or individually and then glue them up? What glue did you use?

I glued them up after I cut them. I ended up using Titebond 3. It gave the best results. I started with Loctite brand foam panel adhesive and was not pleased with the results. It goes on too thick and dries too slow.

To smooth out the seams, I started with Rock Hard Water Putty and felt it was too much work for what I was trying to accomplish. I then went with standard wood filler. I'll report back after Halloween which one lasts better. :)
