Thank you everyone for you kind comments. Here's a little trick I've been using on my profile cut outs. I tried ramps, tabs, etc with mixed results. Tear out on the top edge always an issue, especially on end grain areas.

So here is what I've been doing: I use a 1/16 or a.050" dia. bit from PreciseBits and I use it to cut the first .100 to .125 depth which gives no tear out. Then I switch to a 1/4" end mill and profile down and leave .010 to .015" of stock on the bottom, no tabs. I cut through the rest with my scroll saw or a utility knife. I route the back edge with a small round over bit after to clean it up. I have minimal sanding on the edge and its very clean.

Thanks!

The Keyhole bit is just a Freud bit. Keep your feed speed low and your clamps tight!
