3D in Acrylic !!!!!!!

Post by ttolli »

I'll tell you that this is my second 3D acrylic and i love it. The bass looks like it is swimming inside the acrylic. Made this for my brother's birthday which is coming up in a day or two. I may never do anything but acrylic, well, maybe I take that back for it goes to far. I sure do like the look though.
Have a great 4th of July everyone,
Tim

Hey Tim,

Nice job. I have yet to do a 3D cut in acrylic. What type of acrylic did you use and how thick. hate to ask too many questions but what bit and how deep did you carve. Thanks for posting.

Now you know how I felt a while back. They are really cool! The 3D dragon from vectorart3D is really nice, as well as their praying hands. Their really nice when you carve just the figure, and eliminate all the background. Good job.

Hey Joe,
The acrylic is 1/2 inch from www.estreetplastics.com. The wording is V-Carved with 90 deg. bit @ 0.04 depth you can adjust your speed as needed. The rough pass on the bass is a .25 end mill with the speed cut to 65 in the control panel and the depth is 0.23. The finish path is a 0.125 ballnose same speed , I think the next on I do I will change the stepover to see if it will make it look a little smoother looking.

Adjust your step over to around 10% and you'll have far less lines in the dish.
