Router Problems

Post by rusty »

I bought a shark pro plus from Canadian Woodworker company from manitoba today, and they sent me a router with no variable speed. Does this really matter? if I use this router they sent me, will it affect the finished product?

Hi Rusty,

At face value, if the router speed is appropriate for the material you are working with, and it fits the mounting bracket, then it should work. You should use the speed of the router when defining the tool in VCarve. You may or may not want to adjust the default feed rates found in VCarve based on use of the router. To be clear, VCarve is not tailored to any specific CNC machine, but the default values may not be as useful without change as they are for other setups.

The Shark Controller Box on the Pro Plus does not control the speed of the router. It just turns it on and off (assuming you have the router switch "on").

On a side note, you may want to edit this thread and move it to the Shark Pro Plus section vice the "Show Off Your CNC Shark Projects"...

Good luck!
