Another fun, and possible useful project

Post by Keith Hodges »

My wife has these jars that she wants to turn into canisters. The metal lids were pretty bad, being bent and rusty. So a little thought, and came up with these new lids. They don't seal, since they just set on top of the jars, but I'm going to look for some rubber O rings that might snug it up a bit. Made of Red Oak, and the Butterfly's are part of her favorite décor items. Matches the little step stool I made her couple months ago.

Nice. Those would look good as covers for old lids too.

That looks like it would do the trick. Hmm, wonder about using a keyhole bit and the ramping function... might be able to cut some internal threads to match the jar..... or maybe not LOL

Very nice Keith. I like how you think outside the box. Keep these ideas coming.

How about glue or epoxy metal lids inside wood lids. Or short screws

Hey, I've said it before, fun is what this is all about. Who says everything has to be carved as a piece of art. I'll bet everyone here has something around their house that could stand. A little fun thinking.
