Knife Collector's box

Post by BillK »

This is a project I just completed. Fully manufactured on my shark pro plus including the box joints which I described here: http://www.cncsharktalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=3016.

This is red oak. The front lip and the tray handles are walnut. The top insert with the monogram is acrylic. I created the models of the Patriot's logo and the pocket knife with Aspire. The lighthouse is a V Carve from a line tracing I did. The tray pockets were also created with Aspire. I used walnut on the lip to help hide any darkening of the wood from hand oils over time. My order was to make it masculine and to suit this New Englander friend.

As usual, great project Bill.
Being retired is hard work. Spending way too much time in the shop these days. (And loving it).

Thanks for all your kind comments. I forgot to mention that the tray handles also function as spacers between the trays to accommodate the thickness of the knives.

Joe,Thanks, better late than never, I posted this 1 1/2 years ago.

Huges, by available, do you mean do I still own it? No, I don't, I custom made this for a customer in 2013. They still have it and are using it.
