Yes! I always use a LED adapter cable. I don't even use the pigtail that is on the factor end of the LED strip. I had the solder joint fail/break from handling the LED strip when installing it in the stand. I use 10 mm wide LED strips and mill a slot in the bottom of the stand that is a slight interference fit. Because the LED strip is a little bit flexible you can press the strip into the slot and it locks in place.
I CNC machine the pocket for the power supply and the slot for the LED strip as one step then flip the stand over to cut the slot for the Acrylic panel.

Yes! I always use the no solder LED adapter cables. I also don't use the factor soldered on pigtail that is on the ends of the LED strip. I found that the solder joint fails with very little handling.
