Ceiling fan refurb

We have a screened in section of our deck and the ceiling fan blades wilted from the heat and the light cover fell off and broke. So step one was to replace the droopy blades with some cnc carved ones. These take about 15 minutes each to make including spray paint. I think they came out well. I used 1/4 inch MDF, if these droop also I'll make them out of something else but for now I just have to worry about making the light cover.

Nice replacement job. What were the original blades made of that allowed them to sag? The only time I've seen that in the past was with a 110v fan that was accidently wired to 220v. The motor got so hot it heated up what were plastic blades and they bent over right where they were clamped on.

Nice job Bill. I just installed two outdoor ceiling fans on my deck, and their a plastic material. If the old ones were for indoor use only, but used outside, the drooping will be the outcome pretty much every time. But then again, replacement blades on the shark has all the benefits of fun!

Yes, the old blades were some type of plastic composite I'm guessing. It gets hot up under that roof in the summer, the original ones lasted about a year until the droop was noticed. Still working on a light cover design, wood and acrylic combo I'm thinking.

I have 2 fans on my back porch with the drooping blades. I like this idea! I know what another project is going to be now.

Great work. I have outdoor ceiling fans on the deck, and I am trying to try a portable battery fan, but I am worried that they will not provide enough power to cool us.

Looks impressive. I'm also planning to make a ceiling fan to match my bedside lamp. I've finished the first one (just had to contact the guy and ask for the details (a similar bedside lamp on YT - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31N0eZIXFhc but he used acrylic materials)), however, mine is a wooden lamp, so I'm not sure if it will be ok with the LED (haven't finished the lighting yet).
