My First Litho

Post by wsteffan »

Here is my first attempt at carving lithos.

First off I would like to thank Tony for his help in getting me started. He gave me more than just the basic tips on how I should setup the files and speeds and feeds tips.

Attached is my 3rd attempt. First 2 failed do to feed rate being to fast for the .031 bit I tried. I was 90% done when I snapped the bit. I also snapped a bit on .06 bit as well. I was just trying to cut to fast and paid the price. 2 bits and 2 pieces of 5x7 Candlestone.

I used 5x7 candlestone 1/4 rough side up.
.06 BN
14K RPM
50 Feed Rate
Plunge 20
took me about 2 hours 19 Min to carve.

I have not made a base /frame yet.

So far so good. Make sure you backlit it not from the bottom.
